Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Clearfed ("we", "us") about using the Clearfed app and website. By creating a plan or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Clearfed. Please read the parts about medical advice, liability and disputes carefully.

Not medical advice

Clearfed gives general nutrition and fitness information based on what you enter. It is not medical, nutritional or dietary advice from a professional, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Using it does not create a doctor, dietitian or other professional relationship with anyone.

Calorie and macro targets, scores, food grades, suggestions and estimates are general and may not suit you. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing how you eat or exercise, and especially if you have a medical condition, take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have or have had an eating disorder, or are under 18.

Stop and get medical help if you feel unwell, faint, or notice warning signs while changing your diet or training. Never ignore professional advice or delay getting it because of something in the app. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Some foods carry their own risks, such as raw milk, raw or undercooked meat and seafood, and large amounts of liver. Information in the app about these is general, not a safety guarantee.

Your choices are your own

You decide what to eat, how much, and how to train. You use Clearfed and act on anything in it at your own risk, and you are responsible for your own health decisions and results.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 to use Clearfed. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms for you. Teens don't get calorie deficits and can't share research data.

Your account

Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

Food and nutrition information

Nutrition data comes from the USDA, Open Food Facts, labels and what users enter. It may contain mistakes or be out of date, so check the label when it matters, especially for allergies. Clearfed is not a tool for managing food allergies.

Food grades are our general summary of a food's nutrients, how processed it is, and known benefits and concerns for a typical serving. They are opinions meant as a guide, not facts about how a food will affect you.

Using the app fairly

Don't misuse the app, including trying to reach other people's data, interfering with how it runs, reverse engineering it, or copying it to make a competing product. The app, its design, text and grades belong to us and are protected by law. You can use it for your own personal, non commercial use.

Price

Clearfed is free right now. Paid features may be added later. You will never be charged without clearly agreeing first, and any purchases are handled by Apple under its terms.

No warranties

Clearfed is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that the app will be accurate, complete, reliable, safe, available, error free, fit for a particular purpose, or that it will lead to any particular result, such as weight loss, muscle gain or better health.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Clearfed and its owners, family members, contributors and partners will not be liable for any injury, illness, health problem, loss of data, or indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any decision you make or action you take based on the app, even if we were told such harm was possible.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about Clearfed is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars.

Some places don't allow some of these limits. In those places, these limits apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that can't be limited.

Your responsibility to us

If you misuse Clearfed or break these terms, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, as far as the law allows.

Disputes

If you have a problem with Clearfed, email us first and we'll try to sort it out. If we can't within 60 days, you and we agree to settle any dispute through individual, binding arbitration instead of in court, except that either side can bring a case in small claims court. Claims must be brought individually, not as part of a class action. You can opt out of this arbitration section by emailing us within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content, support, or any claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms. If a change matters, the app will let you know, and if you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply. You can stop using Clearfed at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Clearfed.
